FPG does not provide CLASS training for LEPs.  Some LEPs who need training for staff have access to certified CLASS trainers in their state or community.  Others attend training provided by Teachstone, the offical training provider for CLASS. 

Costs associated with CLASS training and subsequent recertification are covered by the LEP budget. 

LEPs are responsible for ensuring that CLASS data are collected by reliable observers. 

If the CLASS observation is completed by someone other than an evaluator who is part of the LEP/NEP team, assurances must be provided that the observer is independent from the operation/educational services of the classroom.  Examples where this provision has been met are outside observers who are part of state QISs or trained staff from the Educare agencies who do not play a direct role in overseeing or providing educational services.
