Administering the Interview

• Educare staff should plan for all Annual Parent Interviews should be completed in the Fall months (August – early December)
  • Although the interview can be completed in multiple sessions, it is preferable that staff complete the interview in one sitting.
  • Although parent have the right to skip questions, interviewers should try to get answers for as many questions as possible.  

• Remember if a family has more than one child enrolled in the Educare program, one child must be considered the “Main”.
  • If using a paper copy of the interview, remember that upon completion of the main interview, the interviewer must also ask parents to complete a Supplemental Interview for each additional sibling.
    • If paper copies of the interview are used, LEP or program staff should enter the answers on the Educare Survey Website at their earliest convenience. 
  • If using the online survey, the interviewer will be prompted to ask parents about additional children enrolled in the program.
    • Remember that even though the interview is online, it is meant to be conducted as an interview.  Parents should complete the interview on their own as a last resort.

• If new children enroll during the Spring, their caregivers should be administered the Annual Parent Interview at the earliest available opportunity.

• Time Commitment
  • On average, the main interview in English is completed in approximately 32 minutes
  • In Spanish, the main interview is completed in approximately 38 minutes on average
  • The sibbling supplement adds approximately 6.5 minutes on average
